ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — There were observances and ceremonies to remember 9/11 across our area on Saturday.
At Monroe Community College, most in this year’s incoming first-year class weren’t even born yet.
For them, the day is a page in a history book, but one they say that should be recognized and remembered.
Andrew "A.J." Tascione, a Marine Corps veteran and alumnus of MCC, spoke at the event.
He said, in part, "I think it really taught us something about ourselves that day. And it wasn’t about race, ethnicity, political affiliation, special interest groups. It was about humanity, being humans."
There was also a 9/11 remembrance walk on the Brighton Campus between 8 a.m and 9 a.m.
It was at 8:46 a.m. 20 years ago Saturday that the first tower was hit.
