ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the United Christian Leadership Ministry signed a memorandum of understanding Friday as a commitment to keep the lines of communication open between law enforcement and the community.
The two organizations want to improve the relationship between the sheriff’s office and everyone living in Monroe County.
They want to be open about procedures and practices including the body-worn camera program.
"The number of shootings, the number of victims, the families being destroyed," said Sheriff Todd Baxter. "Just one example of how this relationship can improve that is reverend has information, his constituents have information, they have needs they have desires from law enforcement and same thing with us."
The groups are committing to quarterly meetings.
The end goal of this memorandum is to improve the quality of life for people living in Monroe County.
