ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – A Monroe County Legislator is stepping down due to his health.

Matthew Terp represents the county’s eighth legislative district. He was re-elected last November, although he could not campaign.

In a Facebook post, Terp says he’s still dealing with significant health issues, and unfortunately, the side effects from the medications he is taking have made daily life more difficult.

His post goes on to say, "it has been my honor to represent you over the last six and a half years, and I will forever be grateful for the people I have met and the relationships I have made. But now, taking care of my health and family must come first."
