ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — It’s National Library Week and this year’s theme is "connect with your library."

The Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County Monday promoted the idea that libraries aren’t just for books. They’ve become a place to connect to technology and resources.

Libraries also have programs, classes, and partnerships with other communities.

"Within the confines of these walls you can travel not just to anywhere in the world but also into space," said Deputy Mayor Patrick Cunningham. "You can come to disappear into fictional lands that once lived in the minds of authors brave enough to bring the impossible to life."

There are 32 libraries active in Monroe County. Click here to see their programs for Library Week.
