ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Monroe County residents have shown an "overwhelming" amount of support for Ukraine during the county’s efforts to collect donations at the Department of Motor Vehicles and County Office Building, County Executive Adam Bello announced Friday.

So much so, that Bello said the county will not be collecting donations there anymore so that local Ukrainian leaders can catch up on shipping previously collected donations to Ukraine.

Bello said donations include the following:

  • Five ambulances (one from Monroe Ambulance, two from AMR, and two from Finger Lakes Ambulance).
  • More than 150 sets of firefighting turnout gear.
  • More than 100 donation barrels filled with sleeping bags, socks, underwear, toothbrushes and other hygiene products.
  • More than $10,000 worth of first-aid and medical supplies.

Bello said anyone who wishes to donate to Ukraine can visit ROC Maidan’s website to find out what is needed and where to bring it.
