ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC/AP) — The Frederick Douglass-Greater Rochester International Airport isn’t suffering from fuel shortages that are impacting airlines in other regions of the U.S., Monroe County confirmed Tuesday.
American Airlines told the Associated Press Monday that it’s experiencing fuel shortages at some smaller and mid-sized airports.
The airline said the shortages started in the West amid an effort to fire large wildfires, but are spreading to other parts of the country and are expected to last through mid-August.
American didn’t specify which airports are being impacted by the shortages but did say it’s adding refueling stops, flying fuel into areas where the supply is tight or adding more fuel to some planes to compensate.
Southwest told the AP its flights haven’t been affected, and Delta said Reno, Nevada is its most affected location.
