ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is tapping into a new resource to help prevent violent crimes.
The department is now a part of the Criminal Justice Knowledge Bank.
The system was set up by the Division of Criminal Justice Services to help spread the word on successful plans for improving policing across New York.
A system the county has used to identify and assess violent threats, called the Rochester Threat Advisory Committee (ROCTAC), is being added to the knowledge bank.
Sheriff Todd Baxter developed ROCTAC to pinpoint possible targeted threats in hopes of better mitigating them.
