ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Monroe County Executive Adam Bello Thursday announced a "top to bottom review" of the county’s probation department and how it handles registered sex offenders.

The announcement comes after the rape charges against two clerks who were working at a corner store at 95 Central Park. One of the men, 20-year-old Shadad Alghaithy is also a level 2 sex offender, based on a conviction last year for disseminating indecent material to minors. The store was located within 1000 feet of a school, which is a probation violation.

Bello says the review will look at how that happened and how to prevent it from happening again. He is bringing in an outside expert to review this incident as well as probation department policies and procedures in conjunction with the Office of Public Integrity.

The probation department oversees 200 registered sex offenders.
