Naples native heading to Hawaii with the rest of the Olympic rowing team
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — There are 18 days until the Tokyo Olympics.
Naples native Meghan Musnicki qualified for the Olympic rowing team, as she prepares to compete for her third gold medal.
The team is currently practicing two to three times a day, six to seven days a week in Princeton, New Jersey.
They’ll head to Hawaii on Wednesday for a week-long training camp.
This will allow the athletes to acclimate to heat and humidity and cut down the time zone difference, so Hawaii might sound like a vacation, but it’s all business.
"We’re there for a job. It’s not sight-seeing or like, we’re not going surfing while we’re in Hawaii, or like, going to go to this big luau, we’re likely going to be isolated in our hotel rooms, or else working out at the boathouse," Musnicki said.
