NC fugitive sex offender arrested in Wayne County

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – A sex offender wanted from North Carolina was arrested in Wayne County by U.S. Marshals on Tuesday.
David Richards, 46, was wanted on a warrant issued by Buncombe County, North Carolina in September 2021. Richards is charged on a warrant for unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously taking, and attempting to take, immoral, improper, and indecent liberties with a juvenile female who was under the age of 16 at the time.
Task Force members received information that Richards may have fled to Wayne county, where local Task Force members conducted surveillance and found him at a rural campsite. He was arrested without incident and taken to Wayne County Jail where he’s being held as a fugitive from justice.
The Task Force is made up of members from the New York State Police, New York State Division of Parole, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and the Rochester Police Department.
