Niagara County declares state of emergency due to flooding

NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. (WHEC/WGRZ) — Heavy rain caused flooding in Niagara County so severe that the county government declared a state of emergency Tuesday night.

The county made the declaration at 7 p.m. and issued a travel ban for the entire county.

In Lockport, our Buffalo-area affiliate, WGRZ, reports several streets closed due to severe flooding.

Flood watches and warnings in the Rochester area were all discontinued as of 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.
