NY working to inform eligible people about child tax credit
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — More than 200,000 New Yorkers are missing out on payments from the child tax credit, and now the state is rolling out a new plan to help get people paid.
Four separate departments are being used to help get the message out.
The New York State Tax Department will be reaching out to families directly and enlisting the help of community organizations.
The Office of Children and Family Services will distribute flyers at child care centers and referral agencies.
The Department of Labor will handle emails while the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance will be sending out texts reminding people to sign up.
