ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Preparations are underway at the 9/11 Memorial for the 20th anniversary ceremony.

Keeping a constant watch, members of the NYPD are on close standby, some carrying long guns, some leading dogs.

It’s a reminder of what happened and an assurance, this city is ready.

"We’ve deployed more resources for the Port Authority, the MTA, you’ll see more people,” said New York Gov. Kathy Hochul. “You’ll see individuals with long arms, you’ll see them looking a little bit militarized. But, the idea is to let anyone know that, you mess with New York, there will be consequences."

Officials confirm there are no specific threats against the city.
