NYS Attorney General takes legal action after Trump’s refusal to comply with judge’s order
NEW YORK, N.Y. (WHEC) — New York State Attorney General Letitia James has taken legal action on Thursday against Mr. Donald Trump for his refusal to comply with a court order to disclose documents.
James filed a motion of contempt after Mr. Trump refused to comply with a subpoena that the Office of the Attorney General issued. That subpoena requires Mr. Trump to show documents that are connected to the investigation into his financial dealings.
The attorney general filed the motion in New York County State Supreme Court, which seeks to impose a $10,000 fine on Mr. Trump for every day that he continues to violate the order to comply with the investigation.
“Instead of obeying a court order, Mr. Trump is trying to evade it," James said. "We are seeking the court’s immediate intervention because no one is above the law.”
