Overnight closures expected on I-390/I-490 interchange in Gates

GATES, N.Y. (WHEC) — The New York State Department of Transportation is alerting motorists of overnight lane and ramp closures at the I-390 and I-490 interchange in the Town of Gates to facilitate ongoing construction work.

Lane and ramp closures include:

• Monday, Sept. 20: I-390 southbound from Lexington Avenue to Lyell Avenue will be closed from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning. Motorists should follow a posted detour using Lexington Avenue to Lee Road southbound to Lyell Avenue westbound to I-390.

• Tuesday, Sept. 21: I-390 southbound from Lyell Avenue to I-490 will be closed from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning. Motorists should follow a posted detour using Lyell Avenue to Mount Read Boulevard southbound to I-490 westbound to I-390.

• Wednesday, Sept. 22 and Thursday, Sept. 23: I-390 southbound from I-490 to Chili Avenue will be closed from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning. Motorists will follow a posted detour using I-490 westbound to State Route 204 to Chili Avenue to I-390. Additionally, the ramp from I-490 westbound to I- 390 southbound will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and motorists should follow I-490 westbound to State Route 204 to Chili Avenue to I-390. The ramp from I-490 eastbound to I-390 southbound will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and motorists should take State Route 204 to Chili Avenue to I-390.

The DOT says the paving work is weather-dependent and drivers are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones.
