HENRIETTA, N.Y. (WHEC) — An indoor cycling event on Saturday will raise funding to support patients with Parkinson’s disease and research, including genetic testing.
The Parkinson’s Disease Revolution event starts at 8:45 a.m., at Island Fit Gym in Henrietta. The event will feature prizes for riders and raffles.
Parkinson’s affects about 10 million people across the globe.
"There’s so many different levels of Parkinson’s. Some people are like myself, who are pretty good and able to get around and do a lot of things. And then there’s other people that are wheelchair-bound. So it kind of goes the gamut of different types of symptoms. Not no two people are the same, let’s put it that way," said Cindy Finestone, PhD, Revolution lead volunteer.
Experts predict there will be 60,000 new cases of Parkinson’s disease diagnosed this year.
Rochester is one of 35 cities across the United States participating in the fundraising event.
