Pittsford’s own Jared Conners lacrosse journey comes full circle in joining Knighthawks

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Jared Conners’s day job lies in investment banking. The Pittsford native is an analyst for Stifel Financial Cooperation in New York City. But when he’s not in the office, he’s on the lacrosse field, a place he’s been since a young age.

"Only really played in the springtime," Conners said. "And it was just kind of something to fill time outside of like hockey and football. Fast forward to high school. I was on the verge of quitting going into my freshman year of high school."

But instead, he switched positions, leading to a newfound interest and skill for the game. Conners went on to play for powerhouse Virginia, helping lead the Cavaliers to their 7th title in program history last year.

After finishing as one of Virginia’s most decorated defensemen, he isn’t done with the game just yet. The Pittsford product is now with the Knighthawks, dawning a jersey that reminds him of where it all started.

"It’s really cool," he added. "And I have endless family members reach out every week. I’ve had a bunch of family members reaching out and saying that you get to play this weekend and whatnot, which is kind of a little bit more pressure just because I was like crossing my fingers, hoping to finally get out in the field and it wasn’t until like the last second warm-ups and I reached out to a handful of people,” Conners said of his debut. “I was like, ‘I’m playing, see if you can make it.’"

Conners suits up again with the team this Saturday on Long Island when the Knighthawks visit the Riptide. Rochester then returns home on Friday, April 22 to host the Calgary Roughnecks.
