Police: Body of missing Batavia man found in Tonawanda Creek

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WHEC) — The search for a missing man in Batavia over the weekend came to a sad end Monday.

Police say Lewis Hyde’s jacket was found by the bank of Tonawanda Creek on Sunday, which brought search parties out on Monday. Shortly after noon, a body, that was confirmed to be Hyde’s, was found and recovered from the water.

Results of the autopsy are still pending, but police say there does not appear to be any signs of foul play.

He was last seen at around 2 a.m. Friday on West Main Street in the City of Batavia.
