BRUTUS, N.Y. (WHEC) — Police have identified a man that was found dead from jumping out of a moving train.
On April 2, Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office responded to the CSX Railway in the Town of Brutus for a report of a passenger that had jumped from a moving westbound passenger train.
Upon their arrival, responding members of the Weedsport Fire Department located an adult male adjacent to the tracks who was pronounced dead at the scene.
That individual has been identified as 34-year-old Josimar Carmichael from Brooklyn New York. Carmichael had boarded the train in New York City en route to Rochester NY.
Police said that based on the preliminary investigation it appears that Carmichael did jump from the moving train and died as a result of injuries sustained from the incident.
The investigation is ongoing and being conducted in cooperation with Amtrak authorities.
