BATAVIA, NY (WHEC) — Batavia Police identified the man killed after an apparent manufacturing accident at Western New York Concrete Tuesday afternoon.
Police Chief Shawn Heubusch says officers were called to the plant on East Main Street around 1 p.m. Tuesday. Randy Ridd, 64, of Batavia, was pronounced dead at the scene. Heubusch said Ridd had apparently fallen into what’s described as a stone bin and trapped under stone dust, which is used to make concrete.
Fire crews had to disassemble some equipment as they attempted to unbury the Ridd but were unable to reach him in time.
