Police: Man facing weapons charges after running from police, hiding in business

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— A Rochester man is in custody and facing multiple charges after police say he ran into a business to hide from officers.

Rochester Police say the suspect, Tyquaan Lewis eventually surrendered to officers after he was holed up in the store near North Clinton Avenue and Kohlman Street for some time.

Police initially went to the scene around 10 p.m. for a report of a man with a gun, an investigator recognized the man as Lewis, who was already wanted for a parole violation at the time. RPD says it went to arrest him, and that’s when he ran into the store.

At the scene, officers said they found a gun, ammo, and drugs at the scene. Lewis, who is also a suspect in a shots fired call earlier this summer, faces several weapons charges in connection to the latest incident.
