ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A minority-owned real estate business in the Rochester area is expanding.

"R Realty" is now open on Lake Avenue—thanks to a $25,000 grant from the "Revitalize Rochester" fund.

Owner Damaris Rivera has been a real estate professional in various capacities for more than a dozen years.

She says she’s proud of being one of the region’s few Latina-owned real estate businesses.

"My personal journey has been pretty extensive. I have pretty much been an entrepreneur my whole life, starting with nails and making jewelry, opening a pet boutique, being a property manager, to ultimately opening the only Latina-owned real estate brokerage of its kind," said Damaris Rivera, owner, R Realty Rochester LLC.

Rivera says she’s eager to encourage and support other real estate professionals and entrepreneurs by offering trainings and workshops.
