RCSD celebrates World Read Aloud Day

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Schools around Rochester broke out the books Wednesday in celebration of World Read Aloud Day.
News10NBC First Alert Meteorologist Stacey Pensgen was one of 50 familiar faces reading to the kids at School 33.
Principal Melody Martinez-Davis explained why having something like this, in-person, is so important to the students.
"COVID has impacted everyone in different ways," Martinez-Davis said. "It certainly has impacted the way that we teach. We are hoping that by highlighting World Read Aloud Day we can bring back that sense of community in person and we can bring back to our school, community members who want to volunteer, following COVID-19 protocols of course, but it is so important to bring some normalcy back to our school and to our lives."
The event was virtual last year.
