ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Rochester City School District Tuesday said it will continue its current bus routes, which facilitate transportation for students who live within the RCSD, but who don’t go to RCSD schools.
The district provided the service to thousands of students in private, parochial or charter schools outside the city that were dealing with severe bus driver shortages.
Cherie Wright-Banda has two teenage sons in the urban-suburban program who rely on busing and she’s celebrating the decision.
"I’m so excited … I’m so excited."
News10NBC is still waiting to hear back from RCSD on why it withdrew the recommendation from a school district task force to cut busing.
