Recall: GE-brand French Door Refrigerators

The company GE announced on Tuesday that it’s recalling six refrigerator models. There were reports of the handle on the freezer door detaching when consumers went to open it, causing fall injuries.

The recalled refrigerators are all GE-brand French Door Refrigerators and a list of the model number is available on the website of the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Consumers who have one of these models should contact GE Appliances to have their handle reinstalled in-home for free.

There have been 37 reported injuries, including three serious fall injuries, and 71 total reports of the handle detaching. The refrigerators were sold at multinational chains with branches in Rochester, including Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Best Buy, in addition to the stores’ websites.

Further instruction can be found on the website of the CPSC.
