ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Samsung is in active negotiations for a possible $17 billion computer chip factory in Western New York.
News10NBC reported in January that the company was scouting a large industrial campus in Genesee County.
According to a recent filing with the Texas State Comptroller’s Office, Austin is Samsung’s first choice, but it says it needs hundreds of millions of dollars in tax breaks to build there.
If not, Samsung will consider other locations.
In the filing, Samsung said it’s already hired consultants to evaluate incentive packages from New York and Arizona, along with engineers to check out possible sites.
