RED CREEK, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Red Creek Central School District in eastern Wayne County is delaying the start of the school year and will teach virtually for several weeks after three staff members tested positive for COVID-19, resulting in several other staff members having to quarantine.

Superintendent Brian Corey sent the announcement to parents Tuesday.

It said that the changes mean it can’t bring all students back as the district anticipated.

Corey announced the first day of school for Red Creek will be pushed back to Monday, Sept. 13 and learning will take place virtually until Friday, Oct. 1.

The first day of in-person instruction, as of now, is set for Monday, Oct. 4.

The district will be providing Chromebooks and food pickups for students.
