ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Rochester Red Wings were back in action Friday night, once against hosting the Syracuse Mets.
These two teams have been trading wins night after night, with the Wings looking to make it two straight.
The game was scoreless through 9 innings until The Mets broke through in the 10th, and finished up 2-0.
The Wings only managed to score 1, losing 2-1.
But the game was about more than just the score Friday night. The Wings also celebrated the life of Rochester’s Mr. Baseball, Joe Altobelli.
There was a pre-game ceremony to honor Altobelli with his family and former players from the 1971 championship team present.
Altobelli passed away in March at the age of 88.
