Red Wings take control of first place after shutout of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre
ROCHESTER, NY (WHEC) — It was deja vu at Frontier field as the Rochester Red Wings shutout the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders for the second straight game, both scores finishing at 2-0.
Jackson Tetreault picked up the win, after throwing 5 2/3 innings and giving up just three hits and zero runs.
Luis Garcia paced the Red Wings, hitting a solo shot in the first inning and following it up with an RBI triple in the fourth. He’s now the team leader in home runs with six on the season, and gave Rochester a league-best tenth triple of the season.
The Red Wings are playing some of their best baseball of the season, now on a three game winning streak. The hot streak also puts Rochester in first place of the International League East, swapping with Buffalo after the Bisons lost on Thursday to 10-17 Durham.
Rochester will look to stay in first place with four more games remaining in the series with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Friday’s game starts at 6:05 p.m. and is Teacher Appreciation Night.
