Registered sex offender sentenced to prison for sex trafficking
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A registered sex offender was sentenced to 15 years in prison after he was convicted of sex trafficking by coercion.
Peter R. Kiwitt, 63, of Rochester must also serve 15 years of supervised release.
Prosecutors say it all started back in January of 2019 when Rochester Police Officers were called to an underage girl’s deadly overdose. The caller told responding officers that he brought the girl to his house after paying money to use her for sexual acts.
Investigators determined that Kiwitt used the girl’s heroin addiction to coerce her into sex work.
Kiwitt pleaded guilty to the charges back in August. He was a professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology, but has not worked there since 2017.
