Report: NY AG Office’s investigators to question Cuomo in probe

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Gov. Andrew Cuomo is expected to be questioned by investigators from the New York State Attorney General’s Office on Saturday according to a new report by The New York Times.

The Times reports that this signals the Attorney General’s Office’s four-month-long investigation into sexual harassment and other allegations against the governor is in its final stages.

Citing “two people familiar with the matter”, The Times said Joon H. Kim and Anne L. Clark, who are heading the investigation, are expected to interview Cuomo.

The investigators have spent months gathering testimonies from women who have accused Cuomo of sexual harassment and misconduct.

There is still no deadline for when the investigation will end.

Richard Azzopardi, Cuomo’s Senior Advisor and Communications Director released the following statement:

“We have said repeatedly that the Governor doesn’t want to comment on this review until he has cooperated, but the continued leaks are more evidence of the transparent political motivation of the Attorney General’s review.”

Debra S. Katz, the attorney who represents Cuomo accuser Charlotte Bennett, issued the following statement Friday:

“When Ms. Bennett first came forward, the Governor admitted his inappropriate behavior and apologized. Since then, he has lied publicly over and over again in an attempt to walk back his original admission. Realizing his admission was insufficient to quell the public’s growing calls for accountability, he has since resorted to belligerent lies and a Trumpian refusal to stick to a single set of facts. He has also demonstrated a jaw dropping ignorance of the sexual harassment law he signed into effect – without great fanfare – suggesting that his behavior is fine because he never meant to make women feel uncomfortable.

On Saturday, the Governor will be questioned under oath by seasoned investigators with the New York State attorney general’s office. He will not be able to deflect questions like he has at his press conference and he will not be able to play with words. Will he admit to his inappropriate behavior, or will he continue his ridiculous lies and victim blaming? Which story will he tell this time?”
