ONTARIO COUNTY, N.Y. (WHEC) — Ontario County has its eye on an interim sheriff.

A man who held the job for 38 years has agreed to fill in until a permanent sheriff is hired.

Our news partner, The Daily Messenger is reporting that Philip Povero is on board.

Former Sheriff Kevin Henderson and two undersheriffs resigned in September.

In the meantime, Chief Deputy John Falbo has been overseeing the office.

Povero could become sheriff once more in a matter of days.
