ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rev. Stewart and other members of the faith community came together on Thursday to show their support for Mayor Lovely Warren.
The United Christian Leadership Ministry says Mayor Warren has worked to correct the mistakes made in both the Daniel Prude case and her campaign and they believe she’s still the best person to lead the City of Rochester.
Warren was recently charged with scheme to defraud and violation of election law for allegedly using an illegal PAC to bolster her campaign fundraising. On Oct. 5, she was arraigned and her attorney entered a not guilty plea on her behalf.
"We felt that she has done a lot for this community. She has well represented this community. People who know her, talk about her empathy and her track record," said Rev. Lewis Stewart. "We’re not saying that Mayor we support you but that’s it. We’re saying that we’re going to hold you accountable, we’re going to hold your feet to the fire. We’re going to expect certain things from you."
Some of those expectations include police, education, and economic reforms in the city.
