ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — There’s a new spot in Rochester for athletes who want to get some extra training in during the season.
Wednesday the ribbon was cut for the R-Training Center on Oak Street.
The facility sits right by the Rochester Community Sports Complex.
The center will serve as the first indoor spot for student-athletes.
The facility features a turf field along with some hardwood courts.
"I am a youth of this community and I know what it feels like to have a community not invest in you," said Department of Recreation and Human Services Commissioner Daniele Lyman-Torres. "And it’s such a refreshing thing to be part of a team that saw that and this is going to make a tremendous difference in the lives of tomorrow’s commissioner."
The training center will also have all new training equipment, a batting tunnel, a track, and an exercise room.
The whole project was made possible by a donation from the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation.
