Rochester and NYS see highest gas prices ever recorded

ROCHESTER N.Y. (WHEC) — Gas prices in Rochester have reached their highest ever recorded by AAA. Rochester’s regular unleaded prices broke the record on Thursday, at $4.84, and diesel prices broke the record on Wednesday, at $6.31.
The statewide average gas prices also set a record for regular and diesel, both on Thursday.
In Rochester, the average price for regular gas on Thursday rose by nearly $0.23 compared to last Thursday. Prices have jumped by $0.56 compared to last month and by $1.84 compared to May of 2021. For diesel, prices have increased by $3.17 compared to a year ago.
The statewide average prices on Thursday were even higher than in Rochester. New York State’s average price for regular was $4.905 while the price for diesel was $6.542.
