ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester City Hall held its first-ever block party to celebrate Juneteenth on Monday.

There was music, food, and conversation outside city hall to celebrate our newest federal holiday.

"So this is the first ever City Hall block party that we’re doing, closing off the street,” said Mayor Malik Evans. “We’ve got great music, great food, bringing people together in comradery and we want people to reflect on the significance of Juneteenth but more importantly to bring the community together being that is what we’re all about.”

Local musician Cinnamon Jones performed at the celebration.
