ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— Rochester Police say a 15-year-old boy was taken into custody and released after police say he led them on both a car and foot chase Monday morning.

Here’s how police say the night all timed out:

Just before midnight: Police go to the area of Conkey Avenue and Clifford Avenue for the report of a carjacking with a gun. RPD got a description of the car, a blue Toyota.

12:07 a.m.: Police hear gunshots, get a ShotSpotter activation on Glenwood Avenue near Tacoma Street. Police say they spotted the blue Toyota in the area where the shots were fired.

(Cont.) Officer tries to pull the car over but the driver refuses to stop, this leads to a brief car chase. The car chase ends about 2.5 miles away on Jay Street. It’s at this time police say the teen ran from the car. The teen was soon caught by a K-9, and he was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital to be treated for a dog bite to his leg.

Police say the teen was released from the hospital, and criminal charges are pending. RPD is still asking anyone with information to call 911.
