Rochester Police: 3 people shot, 1 seriously hurt Saturday afternoon

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester Police say three people were shot, with one man critically hurt in two shootings Saturday afternoon.

The first shooting happened close to 2 p.m. on Chili Avenue near Thurston Road and Gardiner Avenue. Police went to the scene and found a man with at least one gunshot wound, he was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital where officers say he’s fighting for his life.

A short time later, RPD says a woman showed up at Highland Hospital with a gunshot wound, but she is expected to survive.

Officers say both were shot at the same spot. The area remains closed.

The second shooting happened just before 6 p.m. in the area of the Flint Street Rec Center. Police tell News10NBC officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital and is expected to survive.

Officers are looking into if the man was shot at the Rec Center.

No arrests have been made in either shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
