Rochester Police: Man shot, responding officer’s car hit on Norton Street

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A man is seriously injured in the hospital and responding police officers had a close call after a shooting on Rochester’s north side Friday night.

It happened at around 6:45 p.m. on Norton Street near North Clinton Avenue.

Police say as officers were responding, a civilian vehicle hit one of the patrol cars and left the scene, but the officer inside was not hurt.

A 51-year-old Rochester man was found at the scene with at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital for what police say are life-threatening injuries.
