Rochester Police officer arrested for DWI
WALWORTH, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Rochester Police officer was arrested by deputies after driving drunk on Monday.
Rochester Police Officer Steven Kovacic, 53, was arrested and charged with DWI, driving to left of pavement markings, and stopping, standing, or parking outside of business or residence districts.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office says around 11:50 p.m. they responded to State Route 441 East of Canandaigua Road in the Town of Walworth to find Kovacic partially blocking the westbound lane of traffic while asleep at the wheel.
During the investigation, deputies say they determined that Kovacic was intoxicated by alcohol. Deputies say Kovacic refused to provide a breath sample once at the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Kovacic was processed and released with appearance tickets. He is expected to appear at Walworth Town Court on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.
Kovacic was placed on administrative duty pending the results of the investigation, according to the RPD.
