ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — It’s been just over two years since RPD officer Denny Wright was attacked while responding to a call on Peck Street, and now he’s being honored as New York’s Police Officer of the Year.
Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Wednesday that Wright won the award for his quote "exceptional valor and courage in the face of grave danger."
He’s the first Rochester Police Officer to win the award.
