RPD Officer Denny Wright throws out first pitch at Red Wings game

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) —Rochester Police Department Officer Denny Wright took the mound at Frontier Field to throw the first pitch prior to the Red Wings game Sunday afternoon.

The team hosted its First Responder’s Day.

Wright, a 20-plus year veteran of the Rochester Police Department, was injured while responding to a call on Peck Street in the city in October 2019. He was stabbed multiple times and ended up losing sight in both of his eyes.

He was recently honored with the Medal of Valor and the Purple Heart.

Lehigh Valley best the Red Wings with a final score of 6-1 in Sunday’s game.
