ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester police said a chase on Thursday morning to recover a stolen vehicle ended with a crash into a parked car. Two people are in custody and charges are pending.
RPD said it all started with a carjacking at gunpoint around 4:30 a.m. on Saratoga Avenue. Soon after, officers spotted the car that fit the stolen car’s description on Otis Street near Glide Street.
The car refused to stop leading to an 8-minute-long chase on the west side of the city. Police said that during the chase, the two people inside the stolen vehicle jumped out of it as it was moving down Felix Street. The unoccupied car then struck a parked car.
RPD said the driver who they apprehended, a man in his 20s, was taken to Strong Hospital by ambulance. He is expected to be ok. A woman who police say was a passenger, a man in his 50s, wasn’t injured.
