ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Greater Rochester Area Salvation Army Wednesday morning spread some cheer with its annual toy shop.

Parents brought their kids out to the West Avenue Salvation Army location.

They collected toys and food baskets, as well as a holiday meal.

Last year, the toy shop was held curbside due to the pandemic.

“This year though, which is what we prefer, the parents get to choose for their children,” said Major Doug Burr. “So they get to come and walk through the toy shop and pick toys that they know their kid likes. If they like Spiderman — it’s like ‘Oh Spiderman toy, that’s perfect!’ So we love it.”

More than 200 volunteers and several community businesses teamed up to make the event a possibility.
