ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Salvatore’s Pizzeria celebrated its 44-year anniversary Tuesday, July 5, 2022, by donating to Northeast Quadrant Advanced Life Support.
The non-profit is an emergency medical service provider for the towns of Webster, Ontario, and Penfield, and provides life-saving services for areas that volunteer ambulances don’t cover.
"We are so budget-constrained and people don’t know our plight. We really are in financial challenges before covid, through covid, and going beyond covid and I think communities don’t understand a) Who we are, b) What we do, and c) The help we need. And through this very generous contribution we can get the word out," said Syed Ahmed Mustafa, NEQALS Interim Chief.
Salvatore’s started as an Eastridge High School project in 1978 by 17-year-old Salvatore “SoccerSam” Fantauzzo.
Today there are 33 Salvatore’s locations and outlets. Most locations are owned and operated by former employees including former delivery drivers and pizza box makers.
“I feel safe knowing this amazing service is minutes away from my family, friends and neighbors. I urge our community leaders to support this much-needed community asset” said SoccerSam.
The undisclosed donation is part of a two-year commitment to help spread the word about EMS needs around Monroe County.
