ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Santa delivered some early presents to children at the Volunteers of America Children’s Center Friday.

He delivered toys that were collected throughout the year by volunteer Heidi Barnes and her family.

It’s an annual tradition that’s been going on for the past twenty years.

The director of the local VOA, Lynn Sullivan, explained why this event is so important to children.

"For many of them, they wouldn’t have much of a Christmas in some cases, so the presents that they’re getting today, may be all that they get in certain situations, so this means a lot to them," Sullivan said.

Santa gave each child two presents.
