Scare at Geneva High School Wednesday when routine bag check uncovers airsoft pistol
GENEVA, N.Y. (WHEC) — Students and staff got quite the scare at Geneva High School Wednesday when police say a student brought an airsoft pistol on campus that some believed was a real weapon.
It was found during a routine bag check.
Police say the teenager had no intention of harming himself or others.
The Geneva City School District sent News10NBC the following statement:
“Nothing is more important to us than staff and student safety. At no point during the incident referred to was anyone on our campus at risk. Bag checks are one of several strategies we employ to ensure campus safety and compliance with our code of conduct, and we are grateful to the Geneva Police Department for their assistance. We are not able to provide any specific information on a student disciplinary matter, but all such incidents are dealt with in accordance with our code of conduct.”
