Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development visits Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — United States Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Alejandra Castillo was in Rochester on Thursday.

She met with Rep. Joe Morelle (D, NY-25) for conversations on workforce development and innovation.

Morelle said Alejandra Castillo’s visit was an opportunity to show off everything Rochester has to offer.

It was also a chance to facilitate future investment in our region’s economy.

"We recognize just the number of opportunities and jobs here in Rochester," Castillo said. "But we want to make sure that not only are the jobs available but that the training and upscaling is also available."

Secretary Castillo was able to tour Sibley Square including Mercantile on Main and the Commissary.
