Siena Poll: Nearly 70% of NYers believe worst of the pandemic has passed

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — As we move deeper into the summer since coronavirus restrictions were lifted in New York, a new Siena College poll shows 68% of New Yorkers think the worst of the pandemic is over, while 17% say the worst is still to come.

The poll, released Tuesday also shows more than 70% of those surveyed are at least somewhat comfortable having friends at their home.

A majority of the New Yorkers polled are also comfortable going to a beach or lakefront, going on vacation in the United States, and eating indoors at a restaurant.

On reopening, 71% of those polled believe schools will fully reopen for in-person learning.

The poll was conducted by calling more than 400 New Yorkers over the course of two weeks from mid to late June.
