ROCHESTER N.Y. (WHEC) — 16 fire companies responded to large flames at Hollerhorn Distilling in Naples on Thursday morning. The fire destroyed parts of the building.
Fire officials reported that the tasting room, the bar, and the dining area were destroyed. The distillery part of the building is still intact because a wall prevented the fire from spreading.
No one was injured and no one was in the building at the time of the fire. The first calls came in around 2 a.m. for the fire at the distillery on Spirit Run, a little south of Canandaigua Lake.
"It’s a great loss for Naples and the whole finger lakes area, just a high caliber place, just unbelievable," said Charlie Kingsley, a resident of Middlesex.
Because there were no fire hydrants around, fire companies had to bring in water tanks and even used water from a pond on the property.
Hollerhorn Distilling is a small family business that employs ten people.
"It’s a close knit group of residents," said Jeff Harloff, the County Fire Coordinator for Ontario County. "They support all the businesses locally and I know the business owners help support other business owners through thick and thin. So I’m fairly confident they’re going to survive this fire. it’s going to be a setback but they’re here for the long haul."
